Building Safety, Dignity, and Hope in the Rohingya Camps of Bangladesh

For years, the Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar have lived through unimaginable hardship—forced displacement, overcrowded camps, and a constant struggle for basic human needs. Among these needs, safe shelter remains one of the most urgent.

As part of our long-term humanitarian response, Mawlana Abdur Rashid Social Welfare Association has successfully built more than 3,000 shelters for Rohingya families. These shelters provide protection from monsoon rains, cyclones, heat, and unsafe living conditions that threaten the wellbeing of children, widows, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

But the crisis is far from over. Thousands of families are still living in unsafe, damaged, or temporary structures. To ensure every vulnerable family has a secure place to live, we are expanding our Shelter Construction Program and seeking generous donors to join this life-saving mission

🌿 Why Shelter Matters

A safe shelter is more than a roof—it means:

 • Protection from heavy rain, floods, and wind

 • Better hygiene and disease prevention

 • A private and dignified living space

 • Emotional and physical security for children and mothers

 • Stability for families rebuilding their lives

Every shelter built is a symbol of compassion and a step toward restoring dignity to a displaced community.

🛠 Our Shelter Model

Each shelter is constructed using durable, camp-approved materials:

 • Strong bamboo & treated poles

 • Reinforced tarpaulin roofing

 • Raised flooring for flood protection

 • Secure anchoring to reduce cyclone damage

 • Ventilation for safer living conditions

Our field teams ensure quality checks and prioritize the most vulnerable families on the UNHCR needs list.
